Authorities in Louisiana are actively searching for four inmates who escaped from the Tangipahoa Parish Jail, located just north of New Orleans. Among the escapees, three are suspects in a homicide case. According to the parish sheriff’s office, the inmates managed to slip through the jail’s perimeter fence during recreation time. An inspection revealed that the fence had a vulnerable section that allowed small-statured individuals to maneuver through it.
The escapees have been identified as Omarion Hookfin, 19, of Hammond, Avery Guidry, 19, of Natalbany, and Travon Johnson, 21, also from Natalbany, who are all suspects in a 2022 homicide in Hammond. The fourth escapee, Jamarcus Cyprian, 20, of Amity, was serving time for armed robbery and weapons charges, with additional time for aggravated battery while incarcerated in Catahoula Parish.
The charges against Johnson, Hookfin, and Guidry stem from a home invasion in Hammond in 2022 that resulted in the death of a 33-year-old man and serious injury to his 12-year-old daughter. The authorities are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of these individuals to come forward.
