In a startling development, 31-year-old Justin McCauley, a Tesla employee from Minnesota, was arrested after issuing threats to kill US President Joe Biden and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, among others. The threats, posted on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), prompted immediate action from law enforcement agencies. McCauley, who is currently on workers’ compensation from Tesla following an injury, was charged with making a terroristic threat, a third-degree felony, and is being held at Travis County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
The incident came to light after McCauley’s wife contacted the Rogers Police, reporting that her husband had left for Texas and had left his phone behind to avoid being tracked. Following this, an investigation was launched in collaboration with a Secret Service field agent in Dallas, leading to McCauley’s arrest in Austin. Before his capture, McCauley had expressed a desire to meet with President Biden and was found attempting to reach Elon Musk at the Tesla Gigafactory in Austin to deliver a personal message.
This case highlights growing concerns over the safety of public figures, with Elon Musk himself expressing fears for his life in a recent interview. The situation underscores the need for increased vigilance and security measures to protect individuals from potential threats.
