A shocking incident has shaken the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, as a 30-year-old woman, Ruth Floriano, has been arrested for allegedly killing her own nine-year-old daughter and dismembering her body. The gruesome discovery was made when police found the girl’s body parts stored in a refrigerator at their home, nearly three weeks after her death. Local news outlet G1 reported that the woman admitted to committing the heinous act after consuming drugs, claiming that her daughter couldn’t cope with her parents’ separation.
According to Brazilian Civil Police, Floriano had researched methods of dismemberment online to find an “easier way” to carry out the horrifying act. The police believe that the tragic incident was driven by the child’s struggle to accept her parents’ separation. It was revealed that Floriano was in a relationship with another man she met on a dating app, and he visited her around the same time as the unfortunate event occurred.
Initially, Floriano denied any involvement in her daughter’s death, stating that the child was already deceased when she woke up after a drug-induced sleep alongside her boyfriend. However, her story took a dark turn during police questioning, where she confessed to fatally stabbing the girl while she was innocently brushing her teeth. Authorities also disclosed that some remains had been cooked in an attempt to dispose of evidence. As the investigation continues, questions linger regarding the exact timing of the girl’s tragic demise, which falls close to her recent birthday on August 6. The woman’s two other children have been placed under the care of a city agency.
