In a recent civil lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas, disgraced comedian Bill Cosby is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting Chelan Lasha, a teenager at the time, in 1986. This allegation adds to the numerous claims against the former “Cosby Show” star, who has faced accusations from more than 60 women but denies all allegations. Cosby, who was released from prison in 2021 after a conviction was overturned, is now facing fresh legal challenges, including this lawsuit where Lasha seeks compensatory and punitive damages for sexual abuse and other charges.
According to the lawsuit, Cosby befriended Lasha when she was 15 and offered to help with her modeling career. The assault allegedly occurred in a suite at the Las Vegas Hilton, where Cosby purportedly gave Lasha a drugged blue capsule under the guise of helping her sinus issues, leading to her inability to resist his advances. The traumatic event reportedly had a profound and lasting impact on Lasha’s life, including a struggle with drug addiction and emotional distress.
Cosby’s publicist, Andrew Wyatt, has dismissed the lawsuit as “ridiculous and ludicrous,” highlighting inconsistencies in Lasha’s statements. Meanwhile, the case joins a series of legal actions against Cosby, including a 2022 judgment where a Los Angeles jury awarded $500,000 to a woman claiming Cosby sexually abused her in 1975. The ongoing litigation reflects the complex legacy of a once-beloved entertainment figure, now embroiled in controversy and legal battles over allegations of sexual misconduct.
