Her daughter, McKenna Lane Kelley, took to social media to reveal that Retton is battling a rare form of pneumonia in the hospital’s intensive care unit. The update disclosed that Retton is unable to breathe on her own, and her daughter emphasized the urgency of the situation.

McKenna Kelley posted on Instagram, “Out of respect for her and her privacy, I will not disclose all details. However, I will disclose that she is not insured.” She further implored well-wishers to support her mother through prayers and financial assistance with the mounting hospital bills.
