Oprah Winfrey Hospitalized Due to Severe Stomach Virus

Oprah Winfrey was hospitalized recently due to a severe stomach virus, confirmed her close friend and journalist, Gayle King. King revealed the news on ‘CBS Mornings’ on Tuesday, explaining that Winfrey had been experiencing intense symptoms, including dehydration, which necessitated medical attention. “She had some kind of stomach flu where stuff was coming out of both ends. I won’t get too graphic,” King said, emphasizing the seriousness of Winfrey’s condition.

Winfrey’s absence from her usual media appearances, including the announcement of her latest book club selection, was attributed to this illness. King stepped in for her, maintaining Winfrey’s signature enthusiasm while interviewing author David Wroblewski. A spokesperson for Winfrey confirmed her hospitalization and recovery, stating, “Ms. Winfrey is recovering following a stomach virus and received an IV due to dehydration at the recommendation of her doctor,” while clarifying that her health issue was unrelated to weight loss medications.

Despite this health scare, Winfrey is expected to make a full recovery. King assured viewers of her friend’s improving condition, adding that Winfrey was disappointed to miss her commitments. The media mogul had previously spoken about using medically approved prescriptions to manage her weight, describing it as a significant relief in her life.
