AI startup Reflection has signed a computing infrastructure agreement worth more than $1 billion with Nebius, securing access to Nvidia’s latest AI chips as demand for computing power continues to surge. The deal expands Reflection’s efforts to secure the resources needed to train and deploy advanced AI models, following its June agreement with SpaceX, reportedly valued at around $150 million per month through 2029.
Founded by two former Google DeepMind researchers, Reflection develops open-source AI models designed to compete with offerings from OpenAI and Anthropic. Open-source models have gained popularity among businesses seeking lower operating costs, greater customization, and reduced dependence on proprietary AI providers, particularly after recent U.S. restrictions on access to some advanced AI models.
Reflection Chief Technology Officer and co-founder Ioannis Antonoglou said the additional computing capacity will enable the company to continue building and training frontier AI models at scale, underscoring the growing race among AI startups to secure scarce data-center and chip resources.
