Renowned actor Bernard Hill, celebrated for his roles in major films like “Titanic” and the “Lord of the Rings” series, has died at the age of 79. His passing was confirmed by his family members early Sunday. Hill, whose acting career began in 1974, was with his fiancée and son during his final moments, according to his agent Lou Coulson.
Bernard Hill was widely acclaimed for his portrayal of Captain Smith in James Cameron’s 1997 film “Titanic,” and as Théoden, King of Rohan, in “The Lord of the Rings.” Hill’s distinguished career earned him nominations for two British Academy Film Awards and he was celebrated for his contributions to television and cinema, including his role in “Boys From The Blackstuff,” which won a BAFTA in 1983.
