In a strategic move to avoid a head-to-head clash with Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated concert movie, “The Exorcist: Believer” has adjusted its release schedule. Producer Jason Blum took to social media to confirm that the horror film’s opening has been moved up by a week to October 6, utilizing the hashtag #TaylorWins. Originally, both “The Exorcist: Believer” and Taylor Swift’s concert movie, based on her sensational “The Eras” tour, was set to premiere on October 13. The decision comes in response to concerns that the immense popularity of “Swifties” might overshadow the demonic thriller, which marks the sixth installment in “The Exorcist” franchise.
Swift’s concert movie has already made waves in the industry, smashing advanced sales records during its presale launch with AMC, the movie chain responsible for distributing the film. On the first day of presales, AMC reported an astonishing $26 million in ticket sales, eclipsing the previous single-day advance ticket sales record held by “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” This rapid success prompted AMC to boost its server capacity in anticipation of heightened demand, with all AMC theaters nationwide now set to screen the concert film four times a day on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to meet the overwhelming audience interest.
Taylor Swift, in an enthusiastic tweet, shared, “The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far, and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon. Starting October 13th, you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theaters in North America!” With this development, both films aim to maximize their potential by ensuring audiences can fully enjoy their respective cinematic offerings.
