Hudson Meek, a teen actor celebrated for his role as “Young Baby” in the 2017 action film Baby Driver, tragically passed away at 16 after falling from a moving vehicle in his hometown of Vestavia Hills, Alabama. The incident occurred on December 19 in the 1900 block of Canyon Road, and Meek succumbed to blunt force injuries at UAB Hospital on Saturday, according to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office. Local police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Meek, a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, was remembered for his bright talent and kind heart. His family announced plans for a celebration of life ceremony on Saturday, which will be streamed online, and shared that a scholarship fund will be established in his memory. Acting Out! Academy, a performing arts school in Vestavia Hills, honored Meek as “one of AOA’s first and brightest stars” and extended prayers for his family during this difficult time.
Beyond his breakout role in Baby Driver, Meek appeared in NBC’s Found and National Geographic’s Genius. His obituary highlighted his remarkable impact in just 16 years and noted his legacy of generosity as an organ donor. “His family is comforted by knowing that he will continue to help others for years to come,” the obituary stated.
