The founder of RMS Titanic Inc. talks about the lost submersible’s oxygen supply

There is basically little possibility that anyone is still alive on the submersible, according to the creator of RMS Titanic Inc., who painted a gloomy picture of the search for the lost submersible.

A Titanic expedition leader named G. Michael Harris came on Fox News to give the grim report. Three of the persons on the sub, including one who used to be Harris’ coworker, were identified by host Jesse Watters as people who Harris knew. Watters was also advised by the trip leader that there was nothing that could be done to fix the oxygen shortage on board.

“We carry O2 bottles with us in the submersible, and you also have CO2 scrubbers,” Harris answered when asked if there was any way to remedy the oxygen situation. “The O2 will last longer than your CO2 scrubbers, and if those CO2 scrubbers go, and depending on what actually happened at depth — just not feeling good about it.”

“No. No, I mean, I don’t see anything that can happen at this point,” Harris answered when asked if there was anything the U.S. Navy could do.

“I mean, I’m trying to be a little bit careful and don’t want to essentially be the cynic of what’s going on. But that is a risky atmosphere when you’re talking 6,000 pounds per square inch. More people than have ever travelled to this depth of the ocean have visited space. And while diving in these circumstances, you must cross all of your ts and dot all of your i’s. It’s not looking good, Jesse, if you have to follow every instruction to the letter and dump some tourists into a brand-new sub that has only been operational for a few years.

The team’s commander stated that they believe the submersible collapsed at a depth of about 3,200 meters because of an issue with its hull. Considering that estimate, there was nothing that could be done.
