TikTok Star Khaby Lame Leaves U.S. After Visa Overstay Detention

Khaby Lame, the world’s most-followed TikTok influencer, has voluntarily left the United States after being detained by immigration officials in Las Vegas for overstaying his visa. The 25-year-old Senegalese-Italian content creator, known for his signature silent reactions and expressive face, had entered the country on April 30 and reportedly remained beyond the permitted 90-day stay allowed for Italian citizens under the Visa Waiver Program. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed that Lame was detained and released on the same day before choosing to leave the U.S.

His departure comes amid renewed immigration crackdowns under U.S. President Donald Trump, whose administration has intensified nationwide raids and deportations. The clampdown has led to mass protests and the highest ICE detention numbers since 2019, with more than 51,000 undocumented migrants in custody as of early June. Lame’s case has drawn global attention due to his celebrity status, especially after he recently appeared at the Met Gala in May.

While Lame has not made any public statements regarding his detention or current whereabouts, his quiet exit has stirred speculation among fans. By opting for voluntary departure, he avoids a formal deportation order, which could have barred him from reentering the U.S. for up to 10 years. Lame rose to global fame during the pandemic for his wordless comedic videos, which he once described as speaking “a global language” that resonates across cultures.
