Toni Braxton Denies Marriage Rumors with Birdman, Confirms Single Status

Singer and actress Toni Braxton has put an end to swirling speculations about her marital status with rapper Birdman. Taking to Instagram, she refuted claims of their secret wedding, stating unequivocally, “My dear friend @birdman and I are not married…never been married. We are both single.” The clarification came in response to a news article falsely reporting their union in a private ceremony in Mexico over the weekend.

Braxton and Birdman, co-founders of Cash Money Records, had a history that traversed both friendship and collaboration. Their relationship evolved from being friends and collaborators on Birdman’s 2002 hit ‘Baby Can You Do It’ to a romantic involvement starting in 2016. The genesis of their connection was rooted in mutual support, particularly during Braxton’s battle with Lupus, where she mentioned his unwavering presence and concern for her well-being during her health struggles.

The duo’s engagement was publicized in a teaser for the reality show ‘Braxton Family Values’ in February 2018, but by early 2019, they announced the dissolution of their plans to marry. Braxton, previously married to singer-songwriter Keri Lewis from 2001 to 2013, emphasized that her relationship with Birdman, though once headed toward matrimony, currently stands as a platonic friendship.
