Tragedy Strikes NASCAR Champion Jimmie Johnson’s Family as Three Relatives Found Dead in Muskogee Home

A devastating incident unfolded in Muskogee, Oklahoma, as three relatives of NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson were discovered dead at a residence following reports of a disturbance involving a firearm. The victims were identified as Jack Janway (69), his wife Terry Janway (68), and their 11-year-old grandson Dalton Janway, according to a press release by the Muskogee Police Department.

The deceased couple, Jack and Terry Janway, are the parents of Chandra Janway, Jimmie Johnson’s wife, as reported by Entertainment Tonight. Dalton Janway, the 11-year-old victim, is Chandra’s nephew. The tragedy came to light when authorities responded to a 911 call made by a female resident, reporting a disturbance involving a gun.

Upon arrival, officers found an individual lying on the floor near the front door. Shortly after, a gunshot was heard from within the house. Law enforcement entered the residence and discovered the lifeless bodies of the three victims. The police have since stated that they are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide, with Terry Janway considered a suspect, according to CBS affiliate KOTV.

Following the devastating news, Johnson’s racing team, Legacy Motor Club, announced his withdrawal from the upcoming Grant Park 220 NASCAR Cup Series event in Chicago. The team issued a statement requesting privacy for the Johnson family during this difficult time and indicated that no further comments would be provided.

NASCAR, expressing profound sadness, released a statement offering its deepest support and condolences to Chandra, Jimmie Johnson, and both the Johnson and Janway families. Muskogee, located approximately 50 miles southeast of Tulsa, now faces a heartbreaking loss as the community grapples with this tragic event.
