Trump Ramps Up Anti-Immigration Rhetoric, Targets Political Opponents in Final Stretch of 2024 Campaign

As the 2024 presidential race heads into its final weeks, former President Donald Trump has intensified his rhetoric on immigration and targeted his political opponents as “enemies from within.” Speaking at a rally in Arizona, Trump vowed to end what he called the “migrant invasion” and promised to hire 10,000 more border patrol agents if elected. He also criticized Democrats and those who have investigated him, suggesting the military might be needed to address these so-called internal threats.

At recent rallies in Colorado and California, Trump described migrants as violent criminals, claiming they are “stone-cold killers” from “dungeons of the Third World.” His comments have drawn comparisons to earlier controversial remarks on immigration, and he has pledged to use the Alien Enemies Act to remove foreign nationals during times of conflict. Trump has also accused Vice President Kamala Harris and Rep. Adam Schiff of being part of the internal threat to the U.S.

Trump’s hardline stance on immigration has resonated with his supporters, with CBS News polling showing that 65% of Trump voters believe the Biden administration is intentionally increasing migrant crossings. Despite the Biden administration reporting a decrease in illegal border crossings, Trump continues to focus on border security as a central issue of his campaign, framing it as a matter of national survival.
