The Electoral College of the North American country of the United States of America has approved the victory of Democrat candidate Joe Biden, who contested against US President Donald Trump.
Mr. Trump has not yet conceded his defeat. His campaign team has attempted several methods to stall the transfer of power.
The latest development has derailed the effort put forth by the Republican campaign team to help the US President stick on to the seat of power.
If the things progress in this direction, Mr. Biden will occupy the oval office in this January.
The US Democrats have demanded the smooth transfer of power.

Mr. Trump alleged that the election was fraudulent.
Recently, pro-Trump protesters organised a protest in support of the claims raised by US President Donald Trump.
The protesters clashed with anti-Trump protesters.
