Wiz Khalifa Arrested for Cannabis Possession During Romania Performance

American rapper Wiz Khalifa found himself in legal trouble during his performance at Romania’s Beach Please! Festival, where he was arrested for possession and use of cannabis. The incident occurred on Saturday night in Costinești resort, Constanța county, where Khalifa was captured on video smoking marijuana on stage. According to a press release by Romanian anti-organized crime prosecutors DIICOT, Khalifa was found in possession of over 18 grams of cannabis, classified as a risk drug in Romania. He was also seen consuming cannabis during his performance, prompting authorities to intervene.

The press release emphasized that Khalifa, aged 36, will be afforded full procedural rights and the presumption of innocence throughout the legal process. Despite the arrest and the illegal nature of recreational marijuana use in Romania, Khalifa expressed regret over the incident. In a public apology posted on social media, he acknowledged the incident, stating, “Last night’s show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big a** j***t next time.”

The Beach Please! Festival venue, where Khalifa’s arrest took place, coincidentally hosted an anti-drug campaign led by YouTuber and festival co-founder Andrei Selaru, in collaboration with the Romanian Internal Ministry. The incident has sparked discussions about drug use regulations in entertainment events and the legal consequences faced by international artists performing in countries with strict drug laws.
