Zach Bryan Apologizes After Controversial Kanye vs. Taylor Swift Tweet, Deactivates X Account

Country star Zach Bryan found himself at odds with Taylor Swift fans after a drunken tweet where he compared Kanye West to Swift. In the since-deleted post, Bryan expressed his preference for Kanye over Taylor, while also referencing the Kansas City Chiefs, the football team of Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce. Following the backlash, Bryan deactivated his X (formerly Twitter) account.

Bryan quickly took to Instagram to offer multiple apologies, clarifying that his tweet was meant to compare music, not personalities and that he deeply respects Swift. He cited personal struggles and acknowledged that the tweet came off as rude and desensitized. “Don’t drink and tweet,” he advised in a follow-up post.

Despite the controversy, Bryan emphasized his admiration for Swift’s music, mentioning her song “Castles Crumbling” in one of his Instagram stories. He ended his apology by announcing a social media break and vowing to focus on his ongoing tour. Swift has not commented on the situation.
