An Argentine court has ordered the seizure of 20 properties belonging to former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and her family, according to local media reports. The ruling comes as part of the enforcement of her fraud conviction linked to irregularities in a public works scheme during her administration.
Fernández, a deeply polarizing figure in Argentine politics, served two presidential terms from 2007 to 2015 and later held roles as vice president, senator, and first lady. She has been under house arrest since June following the fraud conviction, which prosecutors argue involved the misuse of public funds in awarding construction contracts.
Earlier this month, Fernández returned to court to face separate bribery charges, adding to her mounting legal troubles. The developments mark a significant turn in the long-running judicial battles involving the influential political leader, whose supporters have repeatedly claimed the cases are politically motivated.
