Republicans on the U.S. House Budget Committee on Wednesday unveiled a $95 billion spending blueprint aimed at advancing key priorities of President Donald Trump’s agenda through the budget reconciliation process. The proposal includes $73 billion in new funding over the next decade for defense and intelligence operations.
The 47-page budget resolution also allocates $10 billion to encourage states to implement provisions of Trump’s SAVE America Act and sets aside $12 billion for agriculture programs. The House Budget Committee is expected to consider the measure on Thursday.
House Republican leaders hope to approve the budget resolution next week before moving quickly to pass a reconciliation bill, a process that allows certain fiscal legislation to bypass the Senate’s 60-vote filibuster threshold. However, it remains uncertain whether the proposal will secure enough support to pass the Senate.
